Welcome to the Advocacy Center!I am a passionate advocate for mental health access and increasing social awareness of the facts surrounding mental illness. It's important. Based on current statistics, a mental health issue will affect one in four families in our country. In many cases, social and media stigma surrounding mental illness leave individuals and families working through their challenges in isolation and secrecy. Yet, the best healing and recovery occurs in connection with others.
I want to see clients have access to the tools and resources they need for healthy and healing journeys. I want to see families and friends have access to the information they need to be helpful to the ones they love and practicing their own needs for self-care while they are being of support. I want each client to understand how critically important their commitment to building healthy physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual practices is to their capacity for healing. I want each client to realize and fully appreciate that they are not alone. There are many others across this country and abroad who travel similar paths to healing and recovery. There are support groups and resources available that can help connect each client to venues in support of their health. It all starts with each of us. Let's learn the facts. Let's appreciate the extraordinary paths that individuals in recovery take. Let's practice the same support for mental illness recovery that we do for physical illness recovery...compassion, care, understanding, and commitment. |
