Create and Keep a Healthy Work/Life Balance!
Work/Life balance is a difficult concept for many of us to grasp. We all need time to relax and enjoy life. If you find you are having less and less time to devote to yourself, your family, or other meaningful activities, it may be an indicator you are overworking. Overworking bears its own risks to our health by creating additional stress and anxiety, leaving us little time to rejuvenate our mental and physical energies, and fostering a sense of self that can get lost in the "do" functions of life with the resulting loss of the capacity to "be" in life. Take the time to explore how you are working, the functions your work levels provide for you mentally and physically, and whether or not those relationships are balanced, healthy ones for you. Appreciating yourself is about taking advantage of thoughts and actions that improve your relationship with yourself. As we improve our relationship with ourselves, we improve our relationship with others and our connectedness to the world around us.
Engage with Others!
We are social creatures. We were meant to live in healthy connection with others. In fact, healthy connection with others is one of the greatest ways to rejuvenate our spirits. If you find yourself withdrawing from meaningful social interaction, take the time to discover why. We grow exponentially when we are connected with others. Many of the greatest forms of healing and recovery take place through our connection with others.
